Volunteer with LA Compost

Turn Your Time into Impact.

Explore volunteer opportunities spanning LA's diverse neighborhoods, conveniently available throughout the week.

Watch & learn what to expect when volunteering:

Two Ways to Volunteer:

Farmers’ Market Food Scrap Drop Offs:

Be amongst the hustle and bustle of a farmers' market while connecting with community members dropping off their food scraps. You'll be monitoring for contamination of non-compostable materials, assisting with logging drop-off metrics, and generally being a welcoming compost host!

You'll leave feeling: Connected and energized.

Activity level: Low to moderate.

Compost Hub Support:

Compost Hub Support volunteers can anticipate getting moderately dirty and sweaty, but loving every minute. You will enjoy chatting with your Compost Manager and fellow volunteers while turning a compost pile or bin. These events take place at our network of sites, which include LA County's most cherished green spaces, including community gardens, urban farms, and parks.

You'll leave feeling: As if you got in a mild to moderate workout (hello, endorphins!) and like you learned a lot about composting!

Activity level: Moderate to high.
