Overview:
The Compost Champion program highlights the volunteer superheroes who go above and beyond to help us keep Los Angeles green and thriving.
Compost Champions are exceptional volunteers recognized every quarter for their outstanding commitment. With 5-9 volunteer shifts per three-month period, they make a real difference in our mission, earning nominations from our team for their exceptional dedication and passion!

A spotlight on LA Compost’s Instagram, newsletter, and website.
Special invitations to volunteer opportunities at major celebrations and fundraising events.

How To Become a Compost Champion:
Sign up for shifts through our Mobilize volunteer platform. You need approximately 3 shifts per month to qualify
Use one email and account to track your shifts effectively.
Commit to your sign-ups and minimize cancellations.
Make sure your profile is complete with name, email, phone number, and birthdate.

Every year, we’ll host one Volunteer Appreciation Event across three regions—North East LA & San Gabriel Valley (SGV), San Fernando Valley (SFV), and South LA —to celebrate the incredible individuals who power our mission. LA Compost volunteers are the heart and soul of our work, creating a powerful, mycelium-like network that nurtures community composting throughout Los Angeles. Every hour volunteers contribute is a vital thread in our shared story. These three events per year are a heartfelt thank you to the volunteers who make our mission possible and a chance to come together, celebrate, and ignite the spirit of composting in our communities!
