About the Workshop:
Join WouldWorks and LA Compost for an interactive, hands-on workshop where you'll learn to build your own worm composting bin and use worms to transform your food scraps into nutrient-rich compost. This is the perfect opportunity to dive into both basic woodworking and sustainable composting techniques. All materials for the worm bin will be provided, and worms will be available for purchase on-site.
This workshop is ideal if you:
Want to pick up basic woodworking skills
Would like to start your own worm composting system
Are committed to attending the full workshop on October 26th from 10 AM - 2 PM
Want to get involved with two local nonprofits, WouldWorks and LA Compost
This is a FREE, grant-funded workshop with limited spots. To confirm attendance, all registrants will be asked to complete a short questionnaire. Please only register if you are 100% committed to participating, as space is very limited and we want to ensure spots are reserved for those who can fully attend.
About Vermicomposting:
Worm composting, or vermicomposting, is a natural process that uses earthworms to break down organic waste, turning food scraps into nutrient-rich compost. Worms eat organic materials like fruit and vegetable peels, coffee grounds, and even paper, digesting them and producing worm castings (or vermicast), which are packed with essential nutrients for soil. This type of composting is especially ideal for indoor or small-space settings, as worm bins can be compact, odorless, and efficient.
Vermicomposting not only reduces waste sent to landfills but also creates high-quality compost that improves soil health, boosts plant growth, and retains moisture. Plus, it's a great way to actively engage in sustainable practices while nurturing your garden or houseplants!
