About the Fundraiser
100% of the funds raised will support repairs to our iconic “Rocket” compost sifter at our Griffith Park Hub. Proof Bakery is also generously providing a $500 match to help us meet our goal.
The Rocket has been an essential part of our composting operations for years, helping us process and distribute compost at our largest hub. As the summer heat arrives, our staff and volunteers are feeling the lack of this beloved tool. With your support, we can get the “Rocket” back in action and keep building healthy soil across LA. 🙌🏼🌱🪱

These summer events are perfect for families looking to get outside, connect with community, and learn about soil health together. Happening alongside our active compost hub operations, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at how we process the food scraps into healthy compost.
Kids will enjoy educational activities and hands-on fun in the soil, all while we capture magical moments together. Light refreshments will be available with some take-home compost.

Nature in Your Neighborhood
Join LA Compost at Nature in Your Neighborhood at Ladera Park on Thursday, July 30th from 4 pm - 7 pm for an evening of fun and learning.
Enjoy live animal presentations, hands-on activities, games, and a community resource fair. Bring your friends and family out to celebrate nature and learn about ways to get involved with community composting LA!

Info Session: Community Composting for Green Spaces - Cycle 5
The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) and LA Compost invite community groups, nonprofits, and municipalities to apply for the fifth cycle of the Community Composting for Green Spaces (CCGS) grant program in the Greater Los Angeles area.
Groups interested in starting or expanding a community composting program in Santa Barbara Ventura, Los Angeles, and Orange Counties are encouraged to attend our upcoming information session.

About: Our virtual volunteer orientation is an opportunity for new volunteers to learn more about LA Compost volunteer opportunities and know what to expect before their first shift. Join LA Compost at Community at the Roots at All People’s Garden on June 13th. Come meet our team, learn about reducing your food waste and ways to get involved in community composting in LA!
At this event, All Peoples Community Center invites community members to learn about how to garden in various living spaces, cooking using locally sourced ingredients, and how to engage with existing community assets. We believe it is important that the community is empowered to engage with and advocate for green spaces and understand why connecting to our roots is important to our collective wellbeing.

Learn + Volunteer: Compost Application at Cottonwood Urban Farm
Help nourish an orchard while learning compost application techniques!
About:
In this volunteer experience, you'll work alongside our team to apply compost at Cottonwood Urban Farm's orchard and learn how these practices can be used in gardens, farms, and landscapes.
Why utilize finished compost?
Applying finished compost is one of the most effective ways to improve soil health, support plant growth, and increase water retention.
Bonus!
As a thank you, all volunteers will head home with finished compost from the Compost Hub. Make sure to bring a bag or container to take home your free compost.

Earth Day Celebration (Little Tokyo)
Come visit LA Compost and celebrate Earth Month at the Little Tokyo Farmers’ Market! Attendees will get the chance to connect with local organizations and participate in fun activities. Offerings include a clothing swap, educational workshops, compost distribution, a community clean up, and a raffle!
No RSVP is necessary but there is a $10 participation fee for the Bokashi Composting + Food Scrap Natural Dye workshop.
