Did you know there is a world of activity and life living beneath our feet? So tiny you can only see them with a microscope, microbes in our soil are responsible for so much in the natural environment...it’s magical!
Join LA Compost on April 8th for the kick-off of Earth Month events all month long with “Magic Soil Day” at the Audubon Center at Debs Park.
With activities suitable for all ages, Magic Soil Day will offer opportunities to learn about the magic in our soils while engaging hands-on with all things soil and compost.
Bring your curious young ones (ages 6 years and up) for a “Become a Soil Scientist” workshop at 11 AM that will guide them through finding their own sample and scientific discovery.
Can’t make the 11 AM workshop? There will be lots to do throughout the day! Other ongoing activities include:
-Letting your creativity shine by making art with soil paint.
-Getting grounded through 5 senses guided meditation station.
-Feeding your hard-working soil scientist brain with healthy snacks and refreshments for purchase.
-Visiting the “Soil Lab” to use real scientific instruments to learn about and explore the wonders of microbial life.
-Capturing the moment with LA Compost’s one and only worm photo booth.
-Hands-on compost sifting station, with the opportunity to take a small amount home.
-Microbe coloring page take-home activity for all attendees.
