• Help us acheive our mission to connect the people of LA to the soil and one another.

  • We envision a food system where food is never wasted, but instead returned to the soil for the next cycle of life.

  • It will take the collective energy of a diverse human network to achieve our vision of an LA that prioritizes the health of it's people and it's soil.

  • Take a minute to write an introduction that is short, sweet, and to the point.

Your Support Makes The
Following Work Possible

  • Diversion of Food Waste

We create natural, community-based solutions to climate change by eliminating organic waste going to landfills

In 2022, we diverted close to 4 million pounds of organic materials from landfills. This is equivalent to 3, 750 metric tons of carbon dioxide and the emissions of 805 passenger vehicles taken off the road for a year.

  • Building of Healthy Soils

LA Compost processes organic materials to heal our soil through our community hubs, regional compost hubs, and farmers’ market drop-offs.

Every year, 22 tons of nutrient-rich compost is created for community gardens and urban farms in Los Angeles County.

  • Community Empowerment

LA Compost engages in community-led, bottom-up strategies to link community members with the soil and each other through educational programming.

We have led 110 compost workshops to empower communities to heal a broken food system.

We have created a diverse human network of 1,665 unique individuals working together to transform their local ecosystem.
