LA Compost is excited to expand our youth education programming with our innovative Magic Soil Bus in Fall 2024. This new mobile educational field trip will explore our amazing soil ecosystem for under-resourced schools in Los Angeles.
About the Magic Soil Bus:
The Magic Soil Bus Program is aimed for the next generation of leaders with tailored activities for K-12 youth with a focus on Title 1 and other under-resourced schools in Los Angeles. Our electric educational vehicle will host lessons on Compost 101, soil health, waste diversion, worm composting, and much more. Youth will participate interactively with environmental STEAM curriculum using scientific tools, reading materials, art activities, and measurements for compost quality. We are cultivating future soil stewards who will be ready to protect our planet!
*Title 1 is a federal education program that supports low-income students throughout the nation who qualify for free or reduced lunch program.
We need your support to help the Magic Soil Bus hit the road!
Our $5K Goal is the remaining amount needed to supply this program with a high-powered microscope, projector and screen, mini-fridge, compost bins, take-home educational activities and children's books on composting.
